After studying law, Mr. Thiemann passed the Second State Exam at the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court. This was followed by a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in media law and an ongoing doctorate in defamation and freedom of expression law. He completed his traineeship at the Krefeld Regional Court, including stints at a major German law firm in Cologne. He also completed specialist lawyer courses in media and copyright law as well as in IT law at the Mainzer Media Institute.
In 2023, he worked for a medium-sized law firm in Berlin and joined the law firm DR. SARAFI Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft from 2024. He advises and represents clients in particular in press and speech law, copyright and media law, social media law and competition law.
His work focuses on representing public figures in speech law proceedings as well as providing comprehensive advice and representation of companies and individuals — both in and out of court — in press and speech law matters. This includes strategic support in advance of critical reporting, responding to media inquiries and enforcing or defending claims following publication. Another focus is reputation and crisis management, in particular when it comes to increasing reporting or so-called “shitstorms.”
Other focal areas of his legal practice include employment law and data protection law.
